Busi Makoni was a keynote speaker the 28^th Lavender Languages and Linguistics conference on Monday, May 23, 2022. Her Keynote was titled "Metalinguistic discourses of styling the other: The discursive construction of liminal masculinities".

She also participated in a roundtable session titled "Queer linguistics" during the conference.
