Talk Information:
Afrikans are often seen as mere consumers in the tech world, benefiting from external innovations but not contributing meaningfully to the ecosystem. In reality, Afrikan innovators, entrepreneurs, and educators create and use tools uniquely suited to their contexts. Join us for a conversation on the transformative power of Educational Technology (EdTech) across Africa, especially in light of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data. We will discuss the continued and sustained invisibilizing of Afrika in Technology (specifically EdTech) and how digital tools and innovative teaching methods are reshaping education in diverse African settings. We will explore how African-led innovations advance educational goals by examining case studies and emerging challenges—such as bridging connectivity gaps in rural areas and designing context-appropriate tools and content. Additionally, we will critically explore the intersection of education, technology, and the youthful demographic across the continent, addressing both opportunities and obstacles within this dynamic landscape.
