Saskia Sassen Ph.d is the Robert S. Lind Professor of Sociology at Columbia University. She studies cities, immigration, and states in the world economy, with inequality, gendering and digitization as the three key variables running through her work. Her research interests include globalization, inequality and urban sociology. She is noted for coining the term “Global City”, is widely published and has received multiple honorary degrees and awards.
