Talk Information:
In this talk, I will present the Journal of Postcolonial Linguistics and discuss its aims. How do linguists rethink the ways of conceptualizing, studying and analyzing language in a postcolonial world? Levisen & Sippola (2019) define a double commitment: to study language and linguistic practices in postcolonial contexts and to engage critically with the way in which we do linguistics. Through illustrative examples, I will explore what this could mean for different subfields of language studies.
