Rafael Lomeu Gomes holds a PhD in sociolinguistics (University of Oslo) and works as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Oslo and at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. He holds a master's in linguistics (Queen Mary, University of London), and bachelor's in social sciences (Pontífica Universidade Católica de São Paulo). His current research interests include multilingualism, sociolinguistics, social theory, language policy, and media discourse. In recent and ongoing research projects, Rafael has investigated family multilingualism and urban speech styles. His research has been published in international, peer-reviewed journals such as "Multilingual Margins", "Multilingua", and "Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development".
