Michael Scott

BIOGRAPHY:

Beirut, Lebanon-born, Scott has most recently worked as an Arabic-English Translator and English Editor for the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), The Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies in Doha, Qatar, The International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) In Kuala Lunpur, Malaysia 2012, and as a consultant and Researcher at the National Foreign Language Center’s STARTALK (U Md, College Park)  Program. 
He also has been a Literary Translator of: Throwing Sparks, Arabic Booker Prize-Winner by novelist Abdo Khal, Bloomsbury, 2014; Borrowed Time, by Hassan Da’oud, Telegram Books, London, 2008 and a number of contemporary Arabic short stories and anthology chapters.  
Currently he works on a freelance basis in Portland, Maine as an independent consultant in Arabic-English/English-Arabic translation & editing, community social-cultural interpretation and English translations from French, Farsi, Urdu and Kiswahili texts.
