Ian Schneider
BIOGRAPHY:
Ian Schneider is a Ph.D. student in Applied Linguistics. His research interests revolve around the intersection of science, science communication, public policy, and storytelling. He has also written about the sociocultural positioning of English within South Korean education, and discourses surrounding the growth of Korean popular music (K-pop) as a global cultural export. He developed these interests after spending four years in South Korea working as a high school conversational English instructor and a teacher-educator. Beyond Korea, he also works on the sociolinguistics of narrative and performance including stylization and improvisational comedy. He approaches these interests from both qualitative and quantitative approaches. His work has appeared in English Today and Journal of Appalachian Studies.
