Ms. Mercy Byera Muganyizi has been an Assistant Lecturer in the School of Architecture Construction Economics and Management (SACEM) at Ardhi University (Dar es Salaam) since 2014. Mercy graduated with a bachelor's degree in architecture from Ardhi University in 2012. She also received an MSc in Sustainable Building Technology from the University of Nottingham in the UK in 2017 under the Chevening Scholarship Program. Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. studies in architectural engineering with a minor in African Studies at Penn State University in the US. She joined Penn State in Fall 2022, where her research looks into the role of green infrastructure in improving outdoor thermal comfort in warm, humid climates, particularly in rapidly urbanizing neighborhoods in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She is passionately involved in teaching, mentoring, and research, whereby her interests are sustainability, interior design, urban design, and housing.
